"The Mouse in the Cupboard", in Gaelic "BallaĆ Lios Chearbhaill", is also known as
"Duignan's Odd Jig", "The Merry Old Woman", "The Rakes of Newcastle West",
"Repeal of the Union", "Tumble the Tinker", "The Walls of Enniscorthy",
or "Wollop the Potlid" is an Irish jig in G Major.
The parts are played AABB. Although most versions of the tune are in G major,
there are variants in other minor-sounding modes.
It was printed in Cranitch's Irish Session Tunes: Red Book (2000),
Johnson's The Kitchen Musician No. 6: Jigs (1982) (revised 1989, 2001),
McDermott's Allan's Irish Fiddler and
Sweet's Fifer's Delight (1965/1981).
